New Delhi: The BJP parliamentary board on Tuesday named Draupadi Murmu, a tribal chief of the get together from Odisha, because the ruling NDA’s candidate for the presidential election.
BJP president J P Nadda introduced her identify at a press convention following a gathering of the get together prime brass.
Murmu (64), a former Jharkhand governor, would be the first tribal lady to occupy the highest constitutional submit if she is elected, a powerful risk as numbers are stacked within the favour of the BJP-led NDA.
Opposition had earlier introduced Yashwant Sinha as its joint candidate for the submit. The ballot is slated for July 18.
