Suella Braverman, who was appointed as Boris Johnson’s Lawyer Common in February 2020, urged the Prime Minister to step down amid the Cupboard chaos.

The Fareham MP informed ITV’s Robert Peston: “I have been a supporter of Boris for a few years and I’m extremely proud to have served in his administration and I’m very pleased with what he has achieved on Brexit, on Covid, on Ukraine.”

Ms Braverman added: “I do suppose the time has come for the Prime Minister to step down.”

Nevertheless, the ex-chair of the Brexit-backing European Analysis Group additionally revealed she would throw her hat into the race to succeed Mr Johnson as Tory Get together chief.

The 42-year-old mother-of-two stated: “I will be straight with you, Robert.

“Sure, I’ll – If there’s a management contest, I’ll put my identify into the ring.”
