Heavy flooding in Virginia damages over 100 houses

Round 40 individuals are unaccounted for and greater than 100 houses have been broken after flooding attributable to torrential rains swept by a rural county in Virginia.

The catastrophe occurred in a single day Tuesday into Wednesday morning in Buchanan County.

Greater than a dozen search-and-rescue groups have been dispatched in and across the small neighborhood of Whitewood, Buchanan county chief deputy sheriff Eric Breeding stated at a briefing.

Virginia Governor declares a state of emergency

Virginia Governor Glenn Younkin declared a state of emergency on Wednesday in response to the extreme flooding within the space.

“As we proceed to evaluate the state of affairs, I wish to thank our first responders and the personnel on the bottom for offering help with our ongoing operations in Buchanan County. Whereas rescue and restoration continues, please be part of me in prayer as we elevate up our fellow Virginians impacted by this tragedy,” Youngkin stated in a press release.
