Sri Lanka mass protest against President Rajapaksa amid tear gas


ECONOMYNEXT – 1000’s protestors gathered at Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo shouting slogan towards President Gotabaya Rajapaksa whereas police tear gassed crowds within the metropolis centre, witnesses stated.

Police tear gassed protestors at Chatham Road, close to President Rajapaksa’s official residence.

“Regardless that you’re in uniform you could stand with the folks,” former army chief Sarath Fonseka advised safety forces.

Sri Lanka imposed curfew forward of the protest in a bid to curb the crowds however it was lifted at 0800 am.

Protestors got here to Colombo strolling and in no matter transport they may discover.
