A passenger on an Easyjet flight from Belfast to Alicante on Spain’s Costa Blanca has been arrested for allegedly smoking in the bathroom of the plane. The incident occurred final Sunday, July 10, on board the 4.15pm departure from the capital of Northern Eire.
An Easyjet spokesperson stated: “We are able to verify that flight EZY6703 from Belfast to Alicante yesterday, was met by police on arrival in Alicante, on account of a passenger behaving disruptively”.
They continued: “EasyJet’s cabin crew are skilled to evaluate and consider all conditions and to behave shortly and appropriately to make sure that the security of the flight and different passengers shouldn’t be compromised at any time”.
“While such incidents are uncommon, we take them very significantly as a result of the security and wellbeing of passengers and crew is at all times easyJet’s precedence”, that assured.
In response to belfastlive.co.uk, the male passenger was caught red-handed after the bathroom’s smoke alarm sounded. Airline employees reportedly confronted the responsible man who remained calm. The captain made an announcement over the airplane’s tannoy system informing the passengers of the incident.
He then radioed forward to the management tower at Alicante airport, the place Spanish police had been ready to take the offending man into custody when the plane arrived.
