Speaker of Maldives parliament – Mohamed Nasheed has confirmed that Gotabaya Rajapaksa has resigned.
” ?? President GR has resigned. I hope Sri Lanka can now transfer ahead. I imagine the President wouldn’t have resigned if he have been nonetheless in Sri Lanka, and terrified of dropping his life. I commend the considerate actions of the Govt of Maldives. My greatest needs to the individuals of Sri Lanka,” he has Tweeted.
Earlier, the Singapore Overseas ministry had confirmed that Mr. Rajapaksa was in Singapore however has “not requested for asylum and neither has he been granted any asylum”.
In the meantime, studies say that Gotabaya Rajapaksa has despatched the letter of resignation from his publish as President of Sri Lanka to the Speaker.
