Halifax Water says it has safely accomplished emergency repairs to its Duffus Road wastewater pump station after the pump was clogged by rags and wipes.

The clog prompted the water utility to challenge a reminder Wednesday that “so-called ‘flushable wipes’ should not flushable and belong in your rubbish.”

In a launch late Thursday morning, Halifax Water stated the system has now returned to regular operations.

“The pump went into operation Wednesday night and was monitored in a single day,” it stated. “Wastewater and stormwater are actually being pumped from this station to the Halifax Wastewater Remedy Facility on Higher Water Road.”

Halifax Water stated clients who’re serviced by the Duffus Road station can “now resume common discharges into their drains.” Beforehand, they had been requested to flush much less usually, and never pour as a lot water down their drain, till repairs had been full.
