The worth for cryptocurrency Dogecoin spiked by about 30% Monday after Twitter CEO Elon Musk modified the app emblem from its blue chicken to a Shiba Inu canine, an emblem typically related to the coin.

Dogecoin, based in 2013, has gained reputation within the final couple years. There was a concerted motion to get the coin to $1, which has not but occurred. Shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, the coin was valued at about one cent.

The sudden emblem change is a callback to when a Twitter consumer advised Musk purchase the corporate and alter the emblem.

“Is a brand new platform wanted?” he tweeted.

“Simply purchase Twitter,” one consumer mentioned. “And alter the chicken emblem to a doge.”

“Haha that might [be] sickkk,” Musk mentioned.

On Monday, Musk posted a screenshot of the interplay and mentioned, “As promised.”

He’s presently going through a $258 billion class-action lawsuit in federal courtroom, the place he’s accused of partaking in a pyramid scheme by selling the cryptocurrency. Musk typically voiced his help for the coin and was even nicknamed “The Dogefather.”
