Amber Heard’s claim of juror fraud in Johnny Depp trial ‘shut down by judge’

Amber Heard has reportedly had all of her post-trial motions dismissed by a choose after her loss towards Johnny Depp within the defamation case.

Earlier this month, Heard’s attorneys claimed that the decision that she had defamed Depp was not supported by proof, and that the incorrect juror had been on the jury through the trial.

Court docket paperwork obtained by MailOnline present that Choose Penny Azcarate denied all of Heard’s post-trial motions on Wednesday.

Within the paperwork, Heard’s attorneys reportedly argued that Depp ‘proceeded solely on a defamation by implication principle, abandoning any claims that Ms. Heard’s statements have been truly false.’

Depp’s lawyer Ben Chew responded in a press release to Courthouse Information, saying: ‘What we anticipated, simply longer, no extra substantive.’

Final month, the 36-year-old Aquaman star was discovered by a unanimous seven-person jury in Fairfax, Virginia, to have defamed her Pirates Of The Caribbean actor ex-husband in a Washington Publish article through which she claimed she was a sufferer of home abuse.

Whereas Depp, 59, wasn’t named within the article, his attorneys argued the piece was defamatory towards the actor and the courtroom awarded him $15million (£12m) in compensatory and punitive damages.

Heard gained one rely of her $100m (£83m) countersuit, and was given damages of $2m (£1.6m), which means she has to pay the 59-year-old $8m (£6.6m).

Paperwork obtained by Deadline state: ‘Following a six-week jury trial, a jury of Ms Heard’s friends rendered a verdict towards her in just about all respects.

‘Although understandably displeased with the result of trial, Ms Heard has recognized no official foundation to put aside the least bit the jury’s resolution.

‘Virginia regulation is evident {that a} verdict is to not be put aside except it’s “plainly incorrect or with out proof to assist it.”‘

It continues: ‘Right here, the decision was well-supported by the overwhelming proof, per the regulation, and shouldn’t be put aside.

‘Mr Depp respectfully submits that the courtroom ought to deny Ms Heard’s Publish-Trial Motions, which verge into the frivolous.’
