7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Near US’ Alaska, Tsunami Warning Issued

An enormous 7.4 magnitude earthquake in the present day struck the Alaska Peninsula area, based on america Geological Survey (USGS). A tsunami warning was issued for some areas of the US state after the earthquake.

The quake which was at a depth of 9.3 km (5.78 miles), USGS stated.

The Alaska Earthquake Centre stated that tremors have been felt throughout the Alaskan Peninsula, the Aleutian Islands and the Prepare dinner Inlet areas.

Alaska is a part of the seismically energetic Pacific Ring of Fireplace.

Alaska was hit by a 9.2-magnitude earthquake in March 1964, the strongest ever recorded in North America. It devastated Anchorage and unleashed a tsunami that slammed the Gulf of Alaska, the US west coast, and Hawaii.

Greater than 250 individuals have been killed by the quake and the tsunami.
