Former Arsenal winger Willian has opened up on his struggles in north London, admitting enjoying a season behind closed doorways ‘with out the excitement of the gang’ had a big impact on him.

‘I didn’t see Arsenal followers. Perhaps I wanted to really feel the excitement of the gang, that it was one thing I missed. It was a troublesome second not only for me, however for everybody on the planet. To play with out followers at a brand new membership shouldn’t be straightforward.

‘On my final day there, I spoke with the supervisor Mikel Arteta. I thanked him so much for what he had carried out for me, for bringing me to Arsenal. I simply wished him all the very best.

‘He is an efficient supervisor and I’ve nice respect for Arsenal. They’re doing properly, they’ve good gamers. They’ll obtain good issues this season.’
