Israeli Minister of Defense meets with American emissaries about Syria

The head of the Defense Ministry‘s diplomatic-security wing, Zohar Palti, met US Ambassador James Jeffrey and Joel Rayburn on Saturday evening in Tel Aviv about Syria, according to a spokesperson from the Defense Minister‘s office.

In a meeting on recent developments in Syria, the head of the Political-Security Division presented the policy of Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, with the emphasis on preventing Iran and Hezbollah from establishing themselves in Syria and continuing to preserve Israel‘s security interests in the north.

Palti emphasized the close relationship between the United States and Israel and the great importance that the Israeli defense establishment attributes to the continuation of the American sanctions against Iran, which will severely harm Iran‘s ability to continue financing terror in the Middle East.
