With municipal elections slated to happen this fall, the Metropolis of Kelowna has put out a name for election staff.
The election will run on Oct. 15, although there will probably be superior voting on Oct. 5, 8, 12, 13 and 14.
In preparation for that, town says it’s seeking to rent round 300 staff to help with voting.

“Whereas polls will probably be open from 8 a.m. to eight p.m., election workers will work full days from as early as 7 a.m. and as much as 9:30 p.m.,” stated town.
“It’s anticipated workers stay on the voting location for the total length of their shift, with breaks scheduled in the course of the day.”
Town says it is going to be hiring three positions: Election officers, presiding election officers and alternate presiding election officers.
A compulsory coaching session will probably be offered for all jobs. Pay for the coaching periods is constructed into the each day fee of pay for every place.
Election official
- No prior election expertise is required.
- The function entails registering voters, distributing ballots and establishing and cleansing up the voting location.
- Shifts are 7:30 a.m. to eight:30 p.m.
- The each day fee of pay is $265.
Alternate presiding election official
- Prior election expertise is required.
- The function entails supporting election officers, registering non-resident property electors, taking care of poll accounting, monitoring and directing voter strains and offering directions on the right way to use the voting machine.
- Shifts are 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- The each day fee of pay is $370.
Presiding election official
- Prior election expertise is required.
- This function entails managing the voting location, together with workers, guaranteeing the integrity of the voting machine and ballots, and making ready the poll account abstract.
- Shifts are 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- The each day fee of pay is $475.
“Working as an election official is an opportunity to be concerned locally whereas gaining priceless insights into the election course of,” stated Laura Bentley, Kelowna’s chief election officer.
“We’re searching for people who find themselves enthusiastic about our group and who take pleasure in connecting with individuals.”
Town says functions are being accepted on-line, and that the deadline to use is Tuesday, Aug. 16.
