You already know the scene. Somebody has drowned, unhappy music performs, and everybody’s already mourning one other onscreen dying. However wait! A hero drops to their knees, yells “Not right now, Dying!,” and begins performing CPR like they’ve been coaching for this their entire life. The stress builds, the music swells, for a second it appears completely futile till … gasp! The drowning sufferer lives, and the day is saved. All of them speak about going to the films later, in all probability.

And it’s not solely drowning victims that get saved by film CPR. Many characters have survived electrocution this manner, too.
